Matheesha Pathirana Father Name: Is CSK Pacer Lasith Malinga’s Son?
When the 20-year-old Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana had made his Indian Premier League debut last year for the Chennai Super Kings, his unusual bowling action had the Cricketing fraternity talking about him right away.
In fact, his first delivery in the world’s biggest T20 league had resulted in a wicket, as he had dismissed the Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill. A fiery pacer who has the ability to consistently bowl above the 145 km/h mark, Pathirana is playing the role of a death bowler for CSK this season, and his handed the responsibility to fill the big shoes of Dwayne Bravo in that department.
As per multiple media reports, it was CSK skipper MS Dhoni himself who had personally scouted Pathirana after watching a particular video of him nailing the yorkers. He was requested to get himself vaccinated and join the CSK camp ahead of the 2021 edition of the league.

Is CSK Pacer Lasith Malinga’s Son?
Pathirana’s uncanny bowling action resemblance with that of the legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga, had made the inquisitive fans speculate whether he is really the latter’s son. As made very clear above, Pathirana has no biological relation with Lasith Malinga whatsoever.
Having said that, the 20-year-old bowls with a more or less similar slingy action as Malinga’s. In fact, his bowling arm even bends further below, and it is due to this very reason, fans have nicknamed him ‘Baby Malinga’.
As for Malinga, the 39-year-old has two children – a son and daughter named Duvin and Ekeesha.
