“Jimmy Butler Had Rolex On While Killing Everybody”: Wearing a $20,000 Watch, Heat Star Once Lit Up a Practice in Minnesota
Jimmy Butler is not a typical superstar baller who would be flashy with his moves and have a ton of highlights after games. But “Jimmy Buckets” gets it done when the lights shine the brightest. However, he once wanted to show off, so he pulled up to the practice facility in Minnesota wearing a Rolex, while he still should have been out due to an injury. And what happened next is downright unbelievable.
Butler’s time with the Timberwolves was not much better than his time in his next franchise, the Philadelphia 76ers. But before leaving he made sure he did some things which would be remembered forever. Jamal Crawford revealed one of those amazing stories.
Jamal Crawford Once told an egregious Jimmy Butler practice-session story
Talking to Shannon Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay last year, one of Jimmy Butler’s former teammates, Jamal Crawford, revealed a story of a practice session where the Heat star wasn’t supposed to be, as he was going suffering from an injury. However, it doesn’t stop there. Because as per Jamal Crawford, the man decided to destroy the egos of his fellow teammates… all with a Rolex still on his hand. Here is his statement on the matter.
“I think he had his Rolex on while he was killing everybody with the ball,” Jamal told Sharpe. “I think he had a Rolex watch on while he was killing people, picking them apart in practice, and then walked off again. It was classic, from what I heard.”
By ‘classic’, if Crawford means the vintage Rolex, it costs around $20,000. Destroying All-Star caliber teammates while recovering from an injury is one thing. But, doing it while wearing something so valuable and flashy is just something else entirely.
What a humiliating night that probably was for Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. In fact, they likely even went home with their tails between their legs. But perhaps it wasn’t their shortcomings that caused this. Maybe it was just a testament to the superhuman Butler becomes when he gets competitive.
When Jimmy destroyed Wolves starters with 3rd stringers
Butler’s one year in Minnesota was tumultuous, to say the absolute least. If not for him, they wouldn’t have reached the 2018 Playoffs. Despite this however, the management angered its only All-Star by giving Towns and Wiggins much bigger contracts than him for the 2018-19 season.
And so Butler demanded a trade. Only a few days after his request, he was in a practice session, having to lead a bunch of 3rd stringers against the regular starters of the team in KAT, Wiggins, and Jeff Teague. Result?
Jimmy handed them and L and left the facility immediately for an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols. Teague told this classic Jimmy story himself recently.
