Kimi Raikkonen’s emotional radio message after Monza pole
Kimi Raikkonen was a happy man after his historic lap during qualifying at Monza today.
The Finn had put up a lap time of 1m19.119s, driving with an average speed of 263.587 kmph.
Kimi’s wife was super emotional after her husband secured pole, clearly overwhelmed by the sea of emotions that came rushing right after the announcement.
However, for Kimi, everything was as normal as it could be. Despite having put up one of the finest laps of his career,
When his engineer informed him that he was on pole, Kimi came up with a small ‘Thank you’ to acknowledge his record breaking lap.
Check out the video:
Raikkonen hasn’t been one to show a lot of emotion, all through his career, but even the most ‘miserly’ would have been buoyed by the occasion, especially when that historic lap came in at Monza, Ferrari’s home circuit.
Kimi will now be focussed on raceday as he acknowledged the fact that the job was just half done and that the points will be awarded on Sunday and not on Saturday.
“It’s only half the job done. I couldn’t think of a better place to be on pole!” Raikkonen said.

Sebastian Vettel would be hoping that he can keep Hamilton at bay tomorrow and maybe get past Kimi as well in order to get closer to Hamilton in that driver’s championship race.
Do you think we’ll see some emotion from Kimi if he wins the Italian Grand Prix tomorrow?
