Klay Thompson Has a $54,000,000 ‘Justification’ for Dining and Dashing with Paul George Years Prior
Klay Thompson and Paul George are among two of the best shooters in the NBA. Their on-court duels are as entertaining and nail-biting as they get. But what’s great about their camaraderie is the fact that Thompson and George have shared a tight bond since their childhood. Back in high school, the stars of today were on the same AAU team, alongside the now co-host of Podcast P – Dallas Rutherford. On the latest episode of the podcast, the trio recalled and laughed at the time they dined and dashed at Denny’s. As unlawful as it sounds, years after racking up hundreds of millions of dollars, somehow the Golden State Warriors shooting guard seems to have a $54,000,000 ‘justification’ for doing so.
Despite suffering several horrific injuries, naysayers haven’t left any chance to criticize Klay Thompson whenever possible. After 12 years in the league, the Splash Brother is now accustomed to the trolls. However, his way of tackling these trolls is slightly different than how we’d expect it to be. As revealed on the same podcast, the 6-foot-6 star takes his mind off of social media to avoid all the noise. Instead, he channels all his energy to grasping knowledge about a wide range of topics from Wikipedia and Reddit.
Klay Thompson finally found a justification for dining and dashing at Denny’s
Klay Thompson made an appearance on the recent episode of Podcast P. As previously mentioned, Thompson is pretty familiar with a few people from the panel. Apart from competing against Paul George for more than a decade, Klay has been on the same AAU team as PG13 and co-host Dallas Rutherford.
The trio reminisced about an incident that occurred during their AAU days. Apparently, the three of them, with their team, dined and dashed from Denny’s. All of them took turns cringing at the incident that happened years ago.
Despite clearly being in the wrong, the Warriors veteran managed to provide a ‘justification’ for their wrongdoings. Mentioning a story about his Puerto Rican friend’s father not promoting Denny’s because of their “segregation” beliefs, Klay tried clearing his conscience. Thompson said during the podcast:
“Denny’s used to enforce segregation. This was a story from my Puerto Rican friend and his dad told me like ‘this is why we don’t ever eat at Denny’s’… I don’t want to throw dirt on Denny’s but this is just what I heard from one of my best friends…So maybe we did the right thing by getting our money back.”
The story is true. Back in 1994, the American diner had to settle a $54,000,000 lawsuit for alleged racial biases. Irrespective, Klay Thompson and company didn’t know about those things back in the day. So they were clearly in the wrong even if they were young and broke.
Klay was once caught with weed
Dining and dashing wasn’t the only illegal thing Klay Thompson pulled when he was younger. The NBA star was once caught by authorities for possession of marijuana.
As mentioned by him on the All The Smoke podcast, Thompson was caught with a “dime bag” of marijuana during his Washington State University days. Even though marijuana did end up being legal two years later in Washington, Klay was on the national news at the time.
