Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys might not have emerged as one of the most successful of teams in the last couple of decades when it comes to the postseason, it sure has established itself as one of the most financially capable units with its valuation recently crossing $9,200,000,000 mark.

As it turns out, the franchise also splurges the most amount of dollars on its mascot. ‘Rowdy,’ the renowned mascot of the America’s team, takes home a handsome salary for his on and off-field shenanigans.

Dallas’ Mascot Takes Home a Hefty Salary

When it comes to American leagues like NFL, NBA and MLB, being a mascot is a lucrative gig. NFL mascots in particular can make up to $60,000, per NFLExclusive. ‘Rowdy’ the official mascot of the Dallas Cowboys since 1996, makes around $65,000 a year, making it the highest-paid mascot in the NFL.

The official mascot of the New England Patriots -Pat Patriot earns about the same as Rowdy. The Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers are a bit stingy when it comes to paying their mascots ‘Blitz’ and ‘Sir Purr’ respectively, giving away around $50,000 a year.

Mascots sometimes make exorbitant figures. One of the highest-paid mascots of all sports is ‘Rocky’ of the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, who earns $625,000 per year, per Sports Illustrated. In fact, mascots are generally paid generously in the National Football League as well, but the same cannot be said about the NFL cheerleaders though.

The life of a cheerleader seems full of glamour. But behind all that glitz are underpaid and overworked women generally making very little money. An average NFL cheerleader, per NBC Boston’s 2022 report, makes as little as $22,500 a year(around $125 a game). However, as one might expect, teams like Cowboys actually pay their cheerleaders way more than this amount.

Cowboys cheerleaders – America’s Sweethearts, are among the most popular cheerleading groups in the NFL, making $75,000 a year. In fact, the Carolina Panthers also pay their cheerleaders ‘Carolina Top Cats’ the same amount. While cheerleaders’ average income across the league is way less than this, their fight for more money and better working conditions has gained some traction over the last couple of years and teams are starting to appreciate their contribution towards the NFL.
