Bayley: WWE names SmackDown Women’s Champion Superstar of the Week

Bayley: WWE names SmackDown Women’s Champion Superstar of the Week on their website.

Money in the Bank 2019 left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouth. However, for a certain wrestler, it was a night she will remember for the rest of her life. Bailey not only won the money in the bank briefcase in the ladder match that night; she also pinned Charlotte to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Bailey is easily one of the best wrestlers in the company regardless of her gender. She made believers out of fans during her stay in NXT. The Hugger received one of the loudest pops for her debut and was fast tracked to the top. She dethroned Charlotte to win her first Raw Women’s Champion. She even had her mania moment when she successfully defended it against 3 other women.

However, after all those highs, things went south very quickly for the Hugger. Poor booking and storylines meant she was not seen worthy of the title by the fans and quickly dropped out of the Title picture; and never really found her way back in. She did win the tag titles with Sasha Banks but it seemed like consolation prize for a woman that was worth more.

The Resurgence

Bailey finally found a chance to have her moment back when she was named as one of the participants in this year’s money in the bank ladder match. Not a lot of people were willing to bet on her though. Mandy Rose and Ember Moon were seen as the likely choices; Bailey remained the Black Horse just like she’s been all her life.

However, the Black Horse pulled through this year and Bayley became Miss Money in the Bank. Winning the briefcase alone can make anyone’s day but Bayley wasn’t satisfied. She cashed in on newly crowned SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair to win her first SmackDown Women’s Championship.

With that win she ha become the only woman who has won the Raw, SmackDown, NXT and Women’s Tag Team Championships, recognising her as both the first women’s Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.

Charlotte had previously claimed that Bayley was not at her level. The Queen had to eat her words when Bayley pinned her once again in a tag team match on SmackDown last Tuesday. To pin Charlotte not once but twice in a span of 3 days means that the company regards her highly and has something big in store for her. It is no surprise then that the WWE have named her as the Superstar of the week.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
