The right-handed batter made his Indian Premier League debut for Chennai Super Kings, and he once revealed that his mother could not even believe it before his friends came with a cake to his house.

It is to be noted that Gaikwad is not related to former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad. Gaikwad is currently in the middle of a brilliant IPL season with Chennai. After a rough IPL season last year, the batter from Maharashtra has made a brilliant comeback this season. Before tying the knot with Utkarsha, he would want to lift the IPL trophy for the second time in his career.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Replaces Ruturaj Gaikwad in World Test Championship

Gaikwad was among the three reserve players in the Indian squad for ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia next month. He has now been replaced by an uncapped player in Yashasvi Jaiswal. Been in a magnificent form during IPL 2023, Jaiswal possesses excellent first class numbers as well. He has scored 1,845 runs at an average of 80.21 with the help of two centuries and nine half-centuries.

Mumbai’s batter Sarfaraz Khan was another in-form candidate, but he is a middle-order batter. BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have opted to replace Gaikwad with an opener only.
