Playing in the Big Bash League after almost a couple of years, Sydney Sixers batter Steven Smith is up and running in the best possible manner after becoming the first-ever cricketer to score consecutive centuries in the history of the tournament.

10th batter to register back-to-back hundreds in T20s, Smith has followed the likes of David Warner (New South Wales in 2011), Unmukt Chand (Delhi in 2013), Luke Wright (Sussex Sharks in 2014), Michael Klinger (Gloucestershire Gladiators in 2015), Kevin Pietersen (Dolphins in 2015), Marco Marias (Border in 2018), Reeza Hendricks (Jozi Stars in 2018), Ishan Kishan (Jharkhand in 2019) and Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals in 2020) in this list.
Smith, who has become the eighth batter to have a couple of BBL centuries under his belt, has joined an elite list comprising Craig Simmons, Usman Khawaja, Luke Wright, D’Arcy Short, Aaron Finch, Ben McDermott (only cricketer with three BBL centuries), Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell. Smith is also the third batter after Simmons and McDermott to score two centuries in the same BBL season.
Having scored his third T20 century against Sydney Thunder in BBL 2022-23 Match 50 at the Sydney Cricket Ground tonight, Smith has also made his way into the list of Top Five highest individual scores in the BBL.

Steve Smith in IPL 2023
Smith, whose last Indian Premier League participation had come for Delhi Capitals in 2021, won’t be playing in the upcoming 16th season of the biggest T20 tournament in the world. Released by Capitals before IPL 2022 auction, Smith had remained unsold last season. As far as IPL 2023 auction is concerned, Smith hadn’t put up his name in the auction.
32nd highest run-scorer in the history of the IPL, Smith’s 2,485 runs across 93 innings have come at at an average and strike rate of 34.51 and 128.09 respectively. In addition to DC, Smith has also represented Pune Warriors, Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL.
Barring Delhi, the former Australian captain has led each of the remaining three teams for a total of 43 matches to be at the joint 13th position in the list of most IPL matches played as captain.
