Virat Kohli, Who Owns INR 4.04 Crore Worth Bentley Continental GT, Bought TATA Safari As His First Car For This Reason

Former India captain Virat Kohli is one of the highest-paid celebrities in our country. The 34-year old player has a special love for cars and is a proud owner of some of the most expensive automobiles available in the nation.

Kohli’s most expensive car is the Bentley Continental GT. In fact, readers must note that he is not the only Delhi-based Indian cricketer to own a Bentley. Former India batter Virender Sehwag, who had played his first international match almost a decade before Kohli’s international debut, also owns a car from the same company.

In spite of the inflation over the years, the current generation of cricketers are earning way more than their predecessors because of multiple revenue streams including the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Batter Shubman Gill, who is often considered as a Prince to King Kohli, has already accumulated some renonwed cars in his garage.

As far as Kohli is concerned, his car collection journey hadn’t started with any ultra-luxurious vehicle. In fact, the energy of a youth inside Kohli had motivated him to buy a car that resembled domination on the roads back in the day.

Virat Kohli Had Bought TATA Safari As His First Car

In an interview with Jatin Sapru for Star Sports Network earlier this year, Kohli had revealed that TATA Safari was his first car. For the unversed, this mid-sized SUV was launched in 1998.

One of the most iconic cars to have hit the Indian roads, Safari has its own special value among Indians. As a matter of fact, Safari Storme is among the few cars to have served in the Indian army. Even two and a half decades down the line, it remains a respected name in the car segment.

However, it is noteworthy that Kohli’s rationale for buying a Safari was not at all based on its performance, space or any other specification, in particular. He just wanted to drive that car because of its powerful presence on the roads.

“Safari uss time pe aisi gaadi hoti thi ki road pe chalegi toh jo saamne se aa rahe hain, woh apne aap hi side ho jayenge [Back in the day, Safari used to be a such a powerfully respected car that anyone coming in front would automatically move aside]. Yeh motivation thi Safari lene ki [This was my motivation to buy a Safari].”

While there is no exact information about the year in which Kohli had bought his first car, it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that he must have made the decision post his international debut in 2008. As per Gomechanic.in, with a price starting INR 6.40 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, TATA Safari Dicor was sold the most between 2007-2012. It had a 3.0 litre turbo-diesel with five-gear manual functionality.

INR 4.04 Crore Worth Bentley Continental GT One Of Virat Kohli’s Many Cars

As per Financial Express, Kohli bought his Bentley Continental GT back in 2018 at a reported price of INR 4.04 crore (exact price may vary as per different models sold in different cities). This car is registered under the name of his brother Vikas Kohli. The luxurious beauty is said to be parked at his Gurugram residence and is used by the star cricketer whenever he visits the city.

The engine of the car generates 626 bhp and 900 nm of peak power and torque respectively. This car has 12 cylinders and the ARAI mileage of the car is around 10.1 km/l. It can reach a speed of 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. The car has a petrol engine and a maximum seating capacity of four people.

Considering the price, it is needless to say that the look of this car is premium which offers state-of-the-art features to all its riders. To give him/her the best possible experience, Bentley Continental GT comes with a 14-way adjustments on the driver’s seat.

As far as entertainment is concerned, it has an 8-inch high-resolution touch screen display along with all numerous other multimedia features. For those who are keen, Kohli’s car is Black is colour.
