“Fans Will Think I'm Lying About It Too”: LeBron James Reveals ‘Inside Information’ About Carmelo Anthony’s Retirement Announcement

After being out of the game for nearly an entire season, Carmelo Anthony decided to hang his boots. On Monday, the former New York Knicks legend released a video on his social media announcing the decision. With Melo retiring from the NBA, LeBron James now remains to be the only player left from the 2003 Draft Class. After the Lakers’ latest loss, Bron hilariously avoided going viral on Twitter for lying by handing out evidence of his awareness about his best friend’s retirement way in advance.

Over the span of his 19-year career, Carmelo did share the court with James for his final season. The two even faced each other a whopping 46 times and managed to produce an entertaining thriller in each one of those duels. However, the King managed to get the better of Anthony, outscoring, outrebounding, dishing more assists, and even winning more in the regular season (22-14) as well as in the postseason (8-2).

“Fans will think I’m lying about it too”: LeBron James

While Melo’s retirement news came as a surprise to many, the King revealed that he actually was aware of the idea well in advance. Following the Lakers’ elimination from the 2023 postseason, the 6-foot-9 forward said:

“I kind of knew the announcement was going to happen cause I shot the video a week ago. So people will probably think I’m lying about that too.”

Why does LeBron believe that people will assume that he’s lying, you may ask?

The idea of LBJ being a compulsive liar crept into the mainstream media. Over the past few months, social media discovered several instances where Bron would straight-up lie about insignificant things.

However, in this specific case, James is true to his words. As mentioned by him, the Lakers were asked to shoot a video for Anthony’s retirement a couple of days ago. That is when the 6-foot-9 forward was made aware of the sharpshooter’s plans.

Instances when LeBron lied

Twitter has unraveled several moments where the future Hall-Of-Famer lied. Whether it was lying about the fact that he watched The Godfather 6 times or claiming to listen to Migos even before the music, Bron has always left social media in splits.

A more popular instance – when LeBron disclosed knowing in advance that Kobe Bryant was going to go on a scoring rampage the night the Mamba dropped 81 points. That’s where all the memes initially began.

Here, have a look at the clip.

LeBron James might be one of the greatest to ever touch the basketball, but unfortunately, the tag of being a generational liar is going nowhere anytime soon.
