Golden State Warriors News: Warriors have a unique player roster situation heading into new season
The Golden State Warriors have a unique player roster situation heading into next season regarding their player’s contracts.
The Golden State Warriors have had a dismal season this time around. 15-50 is their record for this season, which has left them at the bottom of the table and they didn’t get invited to play in the Bubble restart in Orlando.
But now the Warriors find themselves in a “unique” situation regarding the contracts of their players.

What is this unique player roster situation?
The Warriors, reportedly are the only in the team in NBA with no pending free agents for 2020. Meaning that all the 13 players currently in the Warriors squad are committed to the team for next season and beyond.
All the 13 players in the Warriors’ current squad already had contracts going beyond this season or some players signed extensions ahead of next year.
Now that NBA transactions are complete for all but substitute/replacement players, here’s a fun little note:
The Golden State Warriors are the only NBA team without a single pending 2020 free agent. All 13 Warriors under contract have deals that extend into the 2020-21 season.

From the current roster, Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney all entered the 2019-20 season with multiple years remaining on their contracts.
Green and Thompson have contracts till the 2023-2024 season. New addition Andrew Wiggins has a three-year contract worth $100 million.
Jordan Poole, Alen Smailagic, and Eric Paschall were 2019 NBA Draft picks and received standard rookie contracts with multiple seasons.
Ky Bowman and Marquese Chriss signed a multi-year extension with Golden State in February. Damion Lee was converted from a two-way player to a full-time member of Golden State’s roster.
Juan Toscano-Anderson and Mychal Mulder also signed multiple-year contracts before the break-in play.
Warriors back to the top next season?
Warriors will hopefully have the ‘Splash Brothers’ (Curry and Thompson) ready and fit for next season.
That was about as many minutes as we played this year! @KlayThompson 😂 https://t.co/LqPjk1NFKX

With All-star forward Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins on the frontcourt. With a top 3 draft pick guaranteed which adds to the talent and youth in the Warriors squad.
A massive $17.2 million trade exception in hand to use to bring in a decent player to improve the team. Warriors certainly will look like title challengers for next season, back where they belong.
Trades could open up roster spots for the team. But the free agency won’t be much of an issue this offseason. As all 13 of the players on the active roster are locked up for next season.
With all the players on multi-year deals, the Warriors can build a squad that can move forward towards the title for many seasons.
