Nick Chubb

The Browns are looking like serious contenders in 2021, and a lot of that has to do with RB Nick Chubb and his stellar career so far. And Browns GM Andrew Berry couldn’t be happier to sign Nick Chubb to a 3-year contract extension worth $36.6M, with $20M fully guaranteed.

Nick Chubb has been one of the best backs in the league ever since his rookie year in 2018. Chubb was 4 yards short of hitting 1,000+ yards in his rookie year, and then followed that up with a breakout performance in 2019. Despite a miserable offensive line, Chubb rushed for almost 1,500 yards ad 8 scores at a fantastic 5.0 ypa.

The former Bulldog made his 2nd consecutive Pro Bowl in 2020 after rushing for 1,067 yards and 12 scores despite missing 4 games to injury and splitting carries with Kareem Hunt. So his career till now has justified his status as a 5 star back. And he has gotten paid like one.

Andrew GM believes Nick Chubb is the soul of the team

“From the day Nick Chubb first entered our facilities, it was clear to see that he would become a pillar of our organization,” said Andrew Berry, Browns EVP of Football Operations and General Manager. “Although Nick may be a man of few words whose strong-and-silent demeanor can be easy to overlook from the outside, his actions over the past three years have reverberated within the walls of our building.”

“Nick’s on-field contributions stand for themselves. He is a dynamic runner who is on pace to be one of the most accomplished players to ever don an orange helmet at the position. But it’s his work ethic, intelligence, toughness and selflessness that makes us proud that he represents our city. Quite plainly, Nick embodies the soul of our team and we are thrilled that he will be a Cleveland Brown for years to come.”

With all their stars retained, and the addition of a variety of valuable pieces, the Browns look loaded. Especially on offense behind their pronged running back attack of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. It should be interesting to see how the team will fare in 2021.
