Peyton Manning Was Once Called a “Succulent Baby Lamb” By Mustache King Ron Burgundy For Not Having Any Facial Hair
A decade ago, it was impossible to turn on the TV without seeing Ron Burgundy appearing on a news program to promote Anchorman 2.
He was either watching some exciting curling action on TSN in Canada or was co-anchoring a newscast from North Dakota. So it makes sense that he was able to convince Peyton Manning, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos for an ESPN interview.

As Anchorman 2 was ready to hit movie theatres, Burgundy was making himself known on newscasts all over the world. Years ago, Ron Burgundy hosted ESPN’s SportsCenter while visiting the most popular news desks in the nation. As part of his preparation, he even had a conversation with Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
Ron Burgundy asked about Peyton Manning’s missing facial hair
Burgundy grilled Manning with a string of pointed inquiries, including how the quarterback managed to perform so admirably without a mustache. The 46-year-old QB was even told that without any facial hair, he resembled a “succulent baby lamb.” And that was just one of the standout incidents from the scant interview.
Manning also stated that he never grew facial hair, whereas his quarterback brother Eli did, though Peyton joked that those never looked good on Eli. According to Peyton “To begin with, Ron, some of the players you mentioned were never quarterbacks. And, to be honest, I’ve never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I believe I’ve managed to play quarterback without a moustache.”
“Actually, Eli attempted to grow one a while back with limited success. That’s my brother, Ron. However, I agree. It wasn’t very well kept,” Peyton continued.
Undoubtedly, it was hilarious interview which fans love to revisit even today. We hope that another installment of the Anchorman series comes soon as we can’t wait to see Mr. Burgundy in action again.
