Tua Tagovailoa's Poor Performance Against 49ers Sparks Heated Argument Between Stephen A Smith & Dan Orlovsky

The Miami Dolphins lost for the first time since October 16 last Sunday, when the San Francisco 49ers easily defeated them by 33-17. The Dolphins are now 8-4 after the defeat due to which, sees they have dropped to second place in the AFC East, one game behind the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins lost a game where Tua Tagovailoa started and played the entire game for the first time this season.

Tua was only able to score 10 more points on the afternoon after his first pass attempt went for a touchdown and covered 75 yards. The fact that Jaylen Waddle had to leave the game due to injury did not help, but the offense simply stalled out far too frequently.

Stephen A Smith, an ESPN NFL analyst got into a debate with ex-NFL Dan Orlovsky over Tua’s poor performance, which eventually turned into a heated argument. Stephen mentioned Tua’s performance and Dan was saving Tua by discussing how good the 49er’s defense is. Dan also stated “he is not claiming Tua is perfect, but you are portraying him in a negative light”.

On Sunday, Tua’s bid for MVP suffered significantly as he struggled against the gutsy Niners defense. Only 18 of Tua’s 33 pass attempts, totaling 295 yards, were successful. He did throw two touchdowns, but he also made two really poor picks. Tua took three sacks as well.

Tua Tagovailoa took accountability for his own actions

When Tagovailoa addressed his performance with the media following the game, he largely accepted responsibility for his actions.

“It stinks that we didn’t come out and do what we wanted to do as a group,” Tagovailoa said. “Obviously, it starts with me offensively, turnovers on third-downs, communication errors, it’s difficult to win a game when you’re not on your Ps-and-Qs and dialed in. A lot of it is just understanding what we’re trying to achieve and what we’re trying to do.”

Throughout the 2022 season, Tagovailoa has been performing at a level close to MVP. His performance on Sunday, however, was far from stellar. With just 54.5% of his passes completed, he managed 295 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a fumble that was also returned for a score.
