Some of the Key Pointers for Indians in Action

  • Yogeshwar Dutt

Yogeshwar is a veteran when it comes to Wrestling at the highest level, the 4th time Olympian has enough experience under his belt to beat any opponent at Rio. The London Games Bronze medalist has a tricky draw of rounds. He would be facing Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran of Mongolia in the first round, Ganzorigiin is a double time World Championship Bronze Medalist and is expected to give a tough fight to Yogeshwar.

Yogeshwar would be up against 2014 World Champion Russia’s Soslan Ramonov in the next round, if he wins this round he would face London Olympics Silver Medalist Uzbek’s Ikhtoyor Navruzov. It is tough ask for Yogeshwar but the kind of form he is in and with such rich experience he is India’s best bet for a Third medal at Rio.

  • Men’s Marathon

India does not have a realistic chance at a medal in Marathon, the three athletes would be looking to set a new personal best or at best try to break the National Record for Marathon which has stood strong since 1978.

All eyes would be on Yogeshwar Dutt to bring home the 3rd Medal at Rio. With a Billion prayers behind him and years of experience he might just better the Bronze he won in London and Go For Gold at Rio.
