It has been nearly two decades since 23-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic made a mark in this sport. Back in 2006, the Serb lifted his first ever title on the ATP Tour. It all began for the former World No. 1 at the Dutch Open when he beat Nicolas Massu in the final of that tournament.
At that point in time, Djokovic was ranked 36th in the world. Since then, there has been no looking back. Back then, the 36-year-old was tipped as a rising star of tennis. A lot has changed since then, with Djokovic going on to eclipsing all expectations and breaking a mountain of records. The prize money and the prizes have changed rather drastically too.
Novak Djokovic Won iPod As Gift From Tournament Organisers
Interestingly, Djokovic won a sliver plated iPod on winning the tournament in Amersfoort. Back in 2006, the iPod had taken the world by a storm, priced around $249.
Novak has previously professed his liking for classical music. His taste in music also varies from rock to reggae. While on the tour, however, fans never got to see him using that iPod he has never been spotted walking on the court listening to music as some of the other players do so.
Other Special Awards Djokovic Has Received on Winning Titles
As we talk about Djokovic receiving an iPod as a gift, we take a look back at some of the other interesting prizes he has won. After winning the Australian Open 2020, he was gifted an electric car worth 30,000 Euros by Peugeot, a company he is a brand ambassador of.
Besides, Novak has also been gifted a 24K gold plated racket from his sponsor Head on winning the 23rd Grand Slam title of his career. In fact, when he competed the career Grand Slam by winning the French Open 2016, he received a similar gift by his racket sponsors.
As he continues to rewrite the history books of this sport, we can expect to hear about him receiving more gifts and honors to his name. At the moment, he is rejuvenating by holidaying with his family in Croatia and Montenegro. He will be back soon competing at the Cincinnati Open.
