Khamzat Chimaev Officially Gets The Ranked Status In UFC, Becomes The New No.15 Of The Welterweight Division
Khamzat Chimaev has been granted what he was seeking. The latest update in rankings confirm the Swede is the holder of Welterweight’s No.15th spot.
The fighter who made his UFC debut just 5 months ago, has created such enormous impact in a short span that he is now among the top ranked Welterweights in the promotion. On Tuesday, UFC officially gave Khamzat Chimaev the ranked status. The fighter takes the No.15 position of the Welterweight division.
With his fight ready attitude, Chimaev has modified the record books of UFC, and is not ready to slow down. After securing the quickest win hat-trick in UFC (66 days), the fighter promulgated to fight a ranked opponent.
Seemingly impressed with his desire to take on opponents on short notice, UFC president Dana White not only pushed his name to headline a fight night event, but also has booked him alongside Leon Edwards. The two are set to main event December 19 edition of the fight night.

Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards: December 19, 2020
Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards would be the fight that will close out 2020. Some experts believe this contest was written in the stars, as throughout the year, Rocky was eager to step inside in the Octagon to solidify his title contentions, and because of that only wanted to entertain fighters that could elevate his status. Carrying such reservation, he could not find a suitable challenge and as a result is a subject of more than a year of inactivity, although, he was supposed to face Tyron Woodley in March 2020, but due to the spread of global pandemic, the match-up fell through.
Meanwhile, in the same year, Khamzat Chimaev has made the most of his opportunities. So much so that he is now a ranked individual after just 3 fights. He apparently has showcased an entirely opposite image of Leon Edwards. So, come December 19, it would be Rank 3, Vs. Rank 15, and it would be exciting to see who gets the last laugh, between these two extremes from the year.
