UFC 252 Took a Toll On Daniel Cormier; Suffers Torn Cornea Following An Eye Poke

Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic’s glorious trilogy fight has taken a toll on DC, as in the last 24 hrs he has not only endured a devastating loss but has also reportedly suffered a torn cornea.

Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier have finally settled their in-ring feud at UFC 252, where Miocic became the eventual winner, and has won the trilogy battle with a score of 2-1. However, the fight did not go entirely clean. Much like the previous two encounters the fight also saw a set of inadvertent eye pokes from both ends. Cormier made an accidental contact in the initial seconds of Round 1, which caused the fight to stop for only a moment, as Miocic recovered quickly. But, when the same incident occurred again in the third round, this time from the other corner, more damage was inflicted than what was perceived at that time.

Daniel Cormier has Suffered a Torn Cornea

Stipe Miocic in Round 3 made an unwitting poke at the left eye of Daniel Cormier, which has reportedly resulted in Cormier suffering from a Torn Cornea.

Daniel Cormier, post fight revealed his left eye lost vision after that mishap, and he continued the remainder of the fight while carrying that injury.

Referee Marc Goddard, who was the official of the match has come out to apologize to DC, Goddard via, Twitter posted his acceptance statement.

What Is Torn Cornea? How Much Time It Takes To Recuperate From It?

When the front surface of the eye gets wounded badly by an abrupt contact from a detrimental object, then the state of the eye can be defined as a subject of a torn cornea. The one who endures the injury, goes through excessive pain, blurry vision, redness of the eye, etc.

The recovery time depends on the severity of the torn, it may take 2-3 days, and in cases the duration of recuperation has gone past a year as well.

We would hope Daniel Cormier’s injury isn’t much serious, and the greatest heavyweight heals in quick time.
