UFC News: Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards Rebooked For March 13, 2021

Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards gets the second rebooking. Targeted to take place on the following week of UFC 259.

After failing to get past the fight sheet on two occasions, UFC has assigned Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards a new main event date.

According to reports, Dana White has confirmed that the fight night event of March 13 is targeted to host this much-awaited welterweight fight.

The bout was first scheduled to take place on December 19, 2020, but Covid-19 did not spare the last event of 2020 as well and forced Leon Edwards to withdraw. However, in a bid to maintain the hype around the fight, UFC quickly placed it to headline the fight card of the January 20 event, but again the pandemic returned and this time ruled out Khamzat Chimaev.

Now, that Covid threat may no longer lay waste to the fight again, will the supposed curse end, can the third time prove to be a charm?

Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards: Pre-fight Summary

Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Leon Edwards is a much-anticipated fight. The fight has title implications and will answer the most curious query i.e., Is Khamazat Chimaev for real?

Khamzat has had a tremendous 2020, the fighter debuted at the UFC scene in July 2020, and within 66 days had three victories to his name. With this impressive show in the Octagon, Chimaev in quick time made his way in the Welterweight rankings as well. The 28-year-old holds the 15th spot in the UFC Welterweight rankings.

While 2020 turned out to be unforgettable for Khamzat Chimaev, for Leon Edwards it proved to be quite the opposite. Throughout the year, Rocky was seeking an opportunity to get inside the ring again, and even saw his name cut off from the Top-15 on account of inactivity (More than a year). After enduring all the frustration, when finally he got booked alongside Khamzat, the Pandemic played its part. Leon Edwards is still on an 8-match winning streak. And he is looking to get that one last push to reach the title shot.

So, the build-up is ideal, and on March 13, we will finally witness who will prevail in this fight between the newcomer Vs. the old guard.
