UFC Pound-For-Pound Rankings: All You Need To Know About The P4P Ranking System

UFC Pound-For-Pound Rankings: Ultimate Fighting Championship carries a ranking criteria which suggests who is the greatest fighter in the UFC.

Attaining a P4P rank is an elite achievement in the biggest MMA promotion of the world. It is an outright way to exhibit the names of the top 15 professions in the circuit. While there is a separate list for each of the 8 divisions, the Pound-For-Pound rankings are finalised irrespective of the weight class. Therefore, it is a place where a Flyweight can outrank a Heavyweight and a Lightweight can reign supreme over a Welterweight.

The process started in 2013 and since then it continues to become a major talking point. Debates often arise whenever a drastic change in the rankings takes place and more often than not it also becomes a matter of argument for the fighters because in the end it is all about who is better than whom, and who among them is the best.

Who Decides The UFC Pound-For-Pound Rankings?

UFC has designated a panel which consists of a number of media persons. The panel observes the trajectory of a fighter and depending on its direction decides the position of the concerned fighter.

As it is a known fact it is about picking the finest few out of the many present, therefore, consistent appearances in the Octagon and an exceptional win/loss record are the prominent factors on which a fighter is judged and given a rank. However, an active status is still a prerequisite.
