Hanuma Vihari dismisses Shaun Marsh

Hanuma Vihari dismisses Shaun Marsh: The off-spinner stood tall on the occasion to take his second wicket of the day.

During the first day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Perth, India middle-order batsman and part-time off-spinner Hanuma Vihari took his second wicket of the day to dismiss Australia middle-order batsman Shaun Marsh.

With India taking the field with four fast bowlers, getting a couple of wickets (of specialist batsmen) from their part-time bowler on the first day of the Test is a certain advantage for them.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 77th over when Marsh’s attempt to cut a short delivery from Vihari saw him edging the ball to Ajinkya Rahane at first slip. Marsh, who came in to bat at No. 4, ended up scoring 45 (98) with the help of six fours.

Vihari had almost dismissed Marsh earlier in the innings but it was a drop catch from wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant which saw Marsh continue his innings. The dismissal also saw the culmination of an 84-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Marsh and Travis Head.

A special mention needs to be made of India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who grabbed an outstanding catch at first slip. Given the speed of the ball off the bat, it was incredible of him to keep his eyes on the ball and catch the ball comfortably.
