WWE have unique plans for Roman Reigns’ Wrestlemania 36 storyline

WWE have unique plans for Roman Reigns’ Wrestlemania 36 storyline following his decision to pull out from the showpiece event.

Wrestlemania is WWE’s version of Christmas. The jamboree is always packed with fans flocking from all over the world to watch the biggest wrestling event. However, this year, the WWE will not break any attendance record following the coronavirus pandemic.

The breakout of the highly contagious disease has brought several sporting events around the world to a halt. However, the WWE has gone ahead with Wrestlemania. Although, the event will take place behind closed doors with no fans in attendance.

It is not just the fans however, who will be staying away from the event. Superstar Roman Reigns will not be participating in his scheduled Universal championship match with Bill Goldberg at WrestleMania 36.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet and ESPN, it is because he has leukaemia and is immunocompromised, which puts him at greater risk if he contracts COVID-19.

Reigns confirmed the news on his Instagram although he did not specify why he made the decision.

The WWE have honoured his request and he will now be replaced by Braun Strowman in the match against Goldberg. However, according to Triple H, it appears that the WWE are set to handle his decision to pull out of the event in a ‘unique manner’.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on ESPN MMA, Triple H said:

“You can watch our business in multiple different ways. One of them is the storyline aspect of it and to follow the storyline. Another way is the online component of it and the reality of it behind it. Roman has his situation and his reasons for doing the things he’s doing, but I will say from our standpoint and the storyline standpoint, it’s going to play out in a unique manner and we want it to play out that way.”

“ I don’t want to give away the ending of the movie before the movie takes place. Everybody just has to watch and see how this unfolds. It will unfold in a unique way and I think it will be meaningful for everybody.

“There will always be critics, it’s our company’s mission to put smiles on people’s faces, and that’s what we’re trying to do in this situation at a time where people really need those smiles. It might not be the perfect product but it is the product and it is what it is right now.”

WWE Wrestlemania will emanate live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida (where all other WWE programming has since originated), and a second at an unannounced location, both with no spectators in attendance.

The event will be held on April 4 and April 5 and will be available to view on the WWE Network.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
