Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton SummerSlam finish revealed

Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton SummerSlam finish revealed. The two will duke it out at the biggest party of the summer for the WWE title.

Drew McIntyre was long rumored to face Randy Orton for the WWE title at SummerSlam. The program was confirmed after the Viper called put the champion in his promo. It has been speculated that Orton will come out the victor when the two face and Ric Flair will play an important role in the win.

However, on the last episode of WWE RAW, Orton called his former Evolution stablemate deadweight and worthless before hitting him with a low blow. He then finished him off with a Punt kick.

The fact that the Punt wasn’t shown on TV has birthed theories that this was an elaborate stunt to trick McIntyre. However, Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue suggests that this is indeed the WWE’s way of writing the 16-time world champion off TB.

“Randy Orton might not have visibly punted Ric Flair but neither did Braun Strowman visibly throw Alexa Bliss to the ground,” Colohue said. “It doesn’t change the fact that WWE wanted Flair written off before the return to live TV.

“He could still return to cost either Orton or McIntyre at SummerSlam using as controlled an environment as possible. Now that was the original intention; to have Ric Flair somehow involved but the original plan was of course in an attack against McIntyre.

Colohue then suggested that the finish may have changed to Retribution attacking both men. This would eventually lead to a rematch at the WWE Payback PPV; which takes place next week on August 30th.

“Don’t be surprised if this whole thing is held up or potentially interrupted by Retribution in the main event of SummerSlam in order to get a draw rematch at Payback,” Colohue added. “I don’t know why they’ve got a PPV the week after but they’re having it as an overflow PPV and they will need big draw rematches. A week is not long enough to build a new feud. They will need a lot of rematches.”
