WWE Raw June 3 2019: Hits and Misses from Monday Night Raw.

WWE Raw June 3 2019: Hits and Misses from Monday Night Raw. Here’s a look at all the segments from tonight’s show that we either liked a lot or didn’t like at all.

The Bloodline Vs Drew McIntyre and Revival (Hit)

Looks like the WWE have learned from last week’s Raw. This week a short promo was followed immediately by a match unlike last week when it took over 50 minutes for the first match to start. Roman and Drew confirmed that they would face each other at Stomping Grounds later this month.

It was a decent match as well with Drew and The Revival picking up the win after a Shatter Machine. Roman suffered a post-match beatdown at the hands of the heels. Shane ended the segment with a spear to Roman.

A much better opening to Raw then last week.

The Universal Miz TV (Hit)

The Miz invited Universal Champion Seth Rollins for a discussion. The two discussed Lesnar’s cash in. Seth Claimed that Heyman was a liar and Brock wouldn’t even show up. Miz then reminded Seth of the power of the case by recounting their own cash in’s in the past. Brock entered the arena at the end of the segment. Seth’s face when he saw The Beast walk in was perfect. It spoke of the paranoia the champion has had to deal with in the weeks since Money in the Bank.

Lars and the 3 amigos (Miss)

The Lucha house party walked out for a match. Lars Sullivan walked out and was ambushed by the 3. Lars cleared the house easily but was soon taken aback by the comeback mounted by the Luchadors. Nothing here we ain’t seen before.

The Lady vs The Queen (Miss)

Becky started the segment talking about how her being content with achieving her dreams led to her dropping the SmackDown title. Enter Lacey who claimed responsibility for Becky no longer being ‘Two Belts’. Charlotte then made a surprise appearance at Raw and bragged about her 9 championships. A Women’s right from Lacey was followed by a match between Vince’s blondes.

Lacey is an amazing promo and has shown glimpses of her ability in the ring. However, they have been far and few between. You’re truly green in the ring if you can’t work a decent match with Charlotte. To be fair to Lacey, Flair was uncharacteristically sloppy in the match. The torture finally ended when Becky ran interference hitting Lacey with a ManHandle Slam.

Rey Mysterio and the United States Championship (Miss)

And the bad segments just don’t end. The U.S Championship made it’s first appearance on WWE TV after Money in the Bank. Rey Mysterio relinquished the title. If you thought there was going to be a tournament or even a match for the title at least, you’d be mistaken. Rey simply handed Samoa Joe the title back. If they’d at least acknowledged that the referee screwed up then the title change could have been somewhat justified. However, the story being told here was that Rey was injured. I know this has happened in the past before, doesn’t stop it from being uninteresting and lazy.

Bobby Lashley arm wrestles Braun Strowman (Miss)

This is the perfect example of Creative has nothing for you. Why are two muscular men who took their battle to the crowd last week arm wrestling this week? Let me remind you that this was the go home show. WWE have had about 3 weeks since this match was announced and they have failed enormously to create any interest around this match.

Nikki Cross Vs Peyton Royce (Hit)

Alexa comes to Nikki’s rescue and protects her from The IIconics’ bullying. Alexa told Nikki she’d be at her side for her match against Peyton Royce. This was a good match. Peyton shone when given the chance to exhibit her skills. Unfortunately, she took another loss as Nikki Cross took advantage of Peyton getting distracted by Alexa’s Coffee. Alexa was kicked into the coffee and stained her designer jeans. She then attacked Billie Kay and was stopped after Nikki told her that she had won.

The WWE are heavily teasing a Face Alexa and while that does sound interesting as she’s never played face on the main roster. One can’t help but feel maybe she’ll turn on Nikki after a run with her as the Tag team champion. Anyway, this was an entertaining and it will be interesting to see how this story develops.

Seth and Lesnar (???)

This is a very hard one to judge. While it was entertaining to see Brock maul Seth, it was equally baffling to see Lesnar not cash in.

Seth came out to discuss Lesnar. He called The Beast out but Corbin walked out instead. Rollins told him that he’d have to pry the title out of his cold dead hands. Corbin warned Seth that he would retire him at the WWE Super Showdown. The two brawled and Seth came out on top.

Lesnar soon walked to the ring, low blow’d Rollins, like the architect did back at mania. He then heinously brutalized Rollins but then informed Heyman that he would cash in on Friday. I understand that Super Showdown is the bigger show but what was the point of beating Seth to a pulp if he had no intention of cashing in. What difference does the day make if winning the title is the end goal? Couldn’t they at least some one to prevent the cash in so the cash in being postponed could make sense? Bet Vince watched this backstage and thought to himself: This is good shit!

Firefly Fun House (Hit)

Bray has referenced a lot of his past in the Firefly Fun House segments. Today he went a step ahead and referenced his past even beyond his Wyatt Family gimmick. Today he introduced us to another one of his friends; Huskus the pig. A very obvious reference to his Husky Harris gimmick. He told the pig if he exercised everyone would call him a genius and he would have the whole world in his hands. Bray Wyatt then sings a 90’s themed rap sorta song and exercised with Huskus after a devil Vince threatened to fire them if they didn’t get their act together.

The Game meets the Legend killer (Super Hit)

Triple H walked out and told Randy there was nothing he could say that he hadn’t said before. He kept it short and told the Viper that he’d be there at Jeddah to kick his ass. Randy said he wasn’t Batista and he would beat Triple H this Friday. Triple H praised Randy and called him one of the greats but said that he didn’t have what it takes to beat him. This is where thinks start to get great.

Randy asked Triple H to get his balls out of Stephanie’s purse and bring it for their match. Triple H started to laugh and took some time before responding with yeah that’s a great idea. It’s just, they’re too big and taunts Randy for not knowing what a burden they are because Randy doesn’t have it.

The reactions from both of them made it seem like the balls reference was unscripted and was just two pals having fun. Randy even said well-played during Triple H’s comeback. If it really was unscripted then this would just go to show how fun wrestling can be when the scripts aren’t meant to be spoken to the dot and lines don’t have to be delivered verbatim.

Ricochet Vs Cesaro (Hit)

This is the third week in a row that the two have faced each other and yet it seems just as fresh. These two have proven that they are one of the best that this company has to offer. Hopefully they’re both pushed once they’re done with each other. Ricochet won with a school boy pin. Cesaro tried to attack Ricochet Post Match but the high flyer splashed him into the crowd.

The Undertaker (Hit)

The Undertaker came out with 5 minutes left to the show. He cut a promo on Goldberg. The Deadman told him that he was looking for the unstoppable Icon and if he bought anything less to the show then their first match would be his last. He ended the segment by stealing Goldberg’s Catchphrase saying “Goldberg you’re next.” The Undertaker drummed more interest in his match against Goldberg in 2 minutes than the WWE did in 3 weeks for Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman. What a pity…

Conclusion

This was one of those episodes that wasn’t all that good but not all that bad either. My only gripe is that this was the go home show to a Pay per View that they’ve claimed, is equal or greater to Wrestlemania. Definitely a lot better than last week but still a lot of improvements needed.

Here are the Results of WWE Raw June 3 2019:
  • Drew McIntyre and The Revival beat Roman Reigns and The Uso’s
  • Charlotte wins against Lacey Evans via Disqualification
  • Braun Strowman beat Bobby Lashley in an Arm-Wrestling Match
  • Nikki Cross defeats Peyton Royce
  • Ricochet beat Cesaro

See you next week with another Raw: Hits and Misses
