One of 2022’s most shocking highlights in the world of wrestling was when the former WWE Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks walked out on an episode of Raw during WWE taping with her tag team partner Naomi. Sasha has since been making rounds on the internet. The WWE Universe was taken aback when they learned that their walkout was due to creative disagreement. With each passing premium live event, fans continue to speculate about her in-ring return.

Some fans are even yearning to see Sasha join AEW. Nevertheless, Sasha Banks will be seen again attending a wrestling event for the first time after months since her absence.

It is reported that Sasha Banks will make an appearance at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th, 2023. Reports also state that Sasha Banks’ official release from WWE is set to take place after January 1, 2023.

Sasha Banks reveals she had a crush on an active SmackDown superstar

The year 2015 saw the debut of Sasha Banks on the main roster of WWE. Sasha Banks’ rise to fame was attributed hugely to her in-ring skills and also partly to her bloodline with famous American Rapper, Snoop Dogg.

Much like other wrestlers in the locker room, Sasha grew up watching wrestling as a fan. Speaking on MTV’s TRL in 2018, Sasha Banks revealed that she had a crush on Sheamus as a child growing up watching wrestling.

“I don’t want to admit this! Sheamus from WWE – when I was a child! When I was little! I know! I thought he was cute… I still love him, I still love him,” she said.

Sheamus made his debut in WWE six years before Sasha Banks in 2009. The 44-year-old Celtic Warrior’s most remarkable match from his heyday was when he beat John Cena at the PPV event of TLC and became the first-ever Irish-born WWE Champion.

Interestingly, Sasha Banks and Sheamus have been seen in many pictures together though they haven’t had the chance to work in the ring together. Sasha Banks found the love of her life Sarath Ton while wrestling in the Indies and the couple tied the knot in 2016. On the other hand, Sheamus got hitched in 2021 after dating his wife Isabella Revilla for five years.

Sasha Banks may not return to WWE

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer pointed out the possibility of Sasha Banks not returning to WWE because of a high asking price. According to him, The Boss’s contract is set to expire with the company at the end of this year.

After that, Sasha is a free agent, which explains the rumors about her supposed appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 17. However, Meltzer is not entirely ruling out the possibility of her return should WWE decide to “freeze the deal”.

“What she was asking for was a very high number for a WWE woman wrestler, but if you look at the amount of money that WWE takes in, she would still be underpaid. Everyone from Roman Reigns to Brock Lesnar is underpaid…That was the last that I had heard. Now, her contract was set to expire at the end of the year. However, as we’ve seen with so many people, they could freeze the deal.”
