Dalvin Cook Deal: Vikings RB Dalvin Cook Signs Five-Year, $63 Million Contract Extension

Contract Details

The extension gives Cook an average salary of $12.5 million dollars. This will make Cook the sixth highest paid running back in the league based on average salary.

The deal also comes with a $15.5 million signing bonus, the largest for a non-quarterback in all of Vikings history.

Dalvin Cook the Superstar Running Back

Cook has always been an integral part of the Vikings offense since he was drafted in 2017. Vikings general manager said he knew “how important” Cook is to Minnesota’s success and he worked closely with Cook’s agent to arrive at this deal.

In Cook’s rookie campaign, he tallied 354 rushing yards in just four games before a torn ACL kept him out for the rest of the season. As he worked his way back from the injury he enjoyed a productive second year.

In 2018, Cook had 615 rushing yards and four touchdowns through 11 games. However, it was his 2019 season that really propelled him to superstardom.

In 14 games, Cook racked up 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns on 250 carries while also notching 53 catches for 519 yards through the air. His play earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl and he was voted as the 21st best player on the NFL Top 100 list.

Cook is a big play threat on every drive and his explosiveness will continue to give the Vikings a huge edge on offense.
