“I Am Not Quitting”: Matthew Stafford Finally Breaks Silence On Retirement Speculations

After their high of winning the Super Bowl last season, the Los Angeles Rams have had a pretty terrible season. Given his subpar performances at the beginning of the season, quarterback Matthew Stafford has also received a lot of harsh criticism.

Due to the numerous injuries sustained by the home team at SoFi Stadium, including quarterback Matthew Stafford’s, the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl title defense season is on pace to be the worst in history since the merger between the defunct AFL and the old NFL in 1970.

Due to a concussion and a serious neck injury, the former Detroit Lions quarterback was placed on injured reserve on December 3 and is now out for the rest of the year. At age 34, Stafford is approaching the end of his professional career, but the Rams star feels he still has a lot to offer to the league.

Is Matthew Stafford thinking about retirement?

Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, gave a direct response on Tuesday when asked if he planned to retire after this season.

Stafford made it clear on “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford” that he isn’t retiring despite worries about his neck injury. The Rams quarterback gave a snappy response, effectively dispelling any rumours that he would quit football after this season.

Stafford, 34, recently extended his contract with the Rams for four years, keeping him under contract until the 2026 campaign. He’s one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL, so it’s not surprising that he’d refute any rumours that he might be retiring.

The Rams had to trade for Baker Mayfield after Matthew Stafford suffered a neck injury, and the quarterback has performed admirably since coming over from Carolina. In light of the possibility that Los Angeles will choose Mayfield as their long-term quarterback, there was also talk of Stafford possibly retiring.

Stafford has passed for 2,087 yards, ten touchdowns, and eight interceptions in nine games (all starts). During his 14-year career, he has thrown for 52,082 yards and 333 touchdowns in 191 games for the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions (2009–20).
