After Cancelling Bills vs Bengals Game, NFL To Organize AFC Championship Game At a Neutral Site? Roger Goodell Proposes New Action Plan
Damar Hamlin’s injury really shook everyone who is involved in the NFL or even watches the sport in the time of leisure. The way he collapsed ended up raising a few every important questions about player safety.
From this unfortunate incident, a massive controversy erupted when it was conveyed on air that the teams were given only 5 minutes to warm-up after Hamlin was carted off.
Fans and experts were appalled by the fact that NFL executives wanted to get on with the game, even when Hamlin was literally battling for his life. The allegations were later denied by the league, claiming that the message to start the game after injury was never conveyed.
Nevertheless, the controversy was handled perfectly by the league and the public outrage also declined after it was announced that the Bills vs Bengals game will not resume and has been called off.
NFL owners to convene on Friday to discuss Roger Goodell’s new action plan for the playoffs
While this is a good decision looking at how sensitive the matter is, in order to make the playoff picture clearer, the NFL now requires a fresh action plan.
Taking a step in this direction, NFL team owners will convene on Friday during which, commissioner Roger Goodell’s new action plan for the coming week and the playoffs will be discussed to minimize the inequalities that have stemmed after the unfortunate incident on Monday.
The plan states that if both, the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs win or tie in their week 18 clashes, the Bills vs Chiefs AFC championship game would then be played at a neutral venue.
Secondly, if the Bills, Chiefs and Bengals all lose in week 18, the Bills vs Chiefs AFC championship game will again be played at a neutral site. Moreover, if only Bengals win in their coming game while the Bills and Chiefs lose, then the Bills or Bengals vs Chiefs AFC championship clash would again be played at a neutral site.
In addition to this, if Ravens win in week 18 and take on Bengals in the wildcard round, the venue for that particular game will be decided by a toss.
Moreover, in case the Bengals win or these two teams don’t play in the wildcard round, then game sites would be determined as per regular procedure. Without a doubt, the action plan looks promising and most importantly, after what happened with Hamlin, it is the right thing to do to search for other solutions rather than resuming the Bills vs Bengals game.
