Devastated over Divorce With ‘Adult Model’ Annie Bakes, Dennis Rodman Revealed What Drove him to Suicide
Dennis Rodman might have one of the most effervescent lives we have ever seen or heard. Well, it is mostly heard. A lot of his stories, sound like that, stories. Partly because they are too wild to sound truthful. The raunchy and almost self-indulgent nature of his stories meant that there was a dark side to his life.
If your life is going through ups all the time, the lows would be quite shocking. In Rodman’s case, the lows involved contemplation of suicide. A dark thought and an even darker process.
Such was the tragic life of Dennis Rodman. While we viewed it through tinted glasses of fame and promiscuity, he himself was going through a range of emotions. His divorce from ex-wife Annie Bakes didn’t help either.

Dennis Rodman confronted suicide after his devasting divorce from Annie Bakes
Divorce is among the hardest things anyone can face in their lives. For Dennis, it was slightly worse as he was entering the peak of his NBA career.
To fall from such height, would have to have an almost deathly impact. Rodman details the story in his memoir Bad As I Wanna Be.
“And if I got rid of that life, what options did I have? I could have gone off and been a nine-to-five guy who would have been happier and would have had fewer problems. My bank account would have suffered, but I would have been able to walk the streets as a normal person. That’s all I was looking for. The other option I considered was to keep doing what I was doing and try to fool people into believing I was something that I wasn’t. Then I thought of a third option: Live a normal life, stay true to myself, and stay exactly where I am. I sat in that pickup and had a duel with myself I didn’t need the gun; it all took place in my mind.”
To be in such a dark place where you contemplate the outcome of suicide is horrifying. Yet, it was reality for Dennis.
A big part was his marriage and divorce with Annie Bakes, which lasted just 82 days. The short span meant the intensity of emotions was that much higher.
Dennis Rodman’s 82-day marriage with Annie Bakes
A subject of controversy, Dennis’ marriage was turbulent, to say the least. To be in a relationship with a woman for 5 years, marry her and divorce her in just 82 days sounds troubling.
There were other things at play too. The marriage was rocky and Annie said that Dennis forced her to get abortions and was physically abusive.
Nowadays, Dennis has steered slightly clear of the limelight. However, he still pops up every now and then. He remains the most interesting person to come out of the NBA.
