“Jordan Poole Never Got It Going Tonight!”: Steve Kerr Talks About Warriors’ 118–99 Game 6 Loss, Shares Blame

The Golden State Warriors suffered a devastating loss at home tonight. Despite a 29-point night by Stephen Curry, the Warriors were unable to get going. Jordan Poole struggled on both ends of the floor, and this in turn cost the Warriors a chance to wrap things up at home. Steve Kerr talked about JP’s performance in the post-game interview, along with other things.

Hosting the Kings for a Game 6, everyone expected the Dubs to carry their Game 5 momentum and wrap things up. However, Mike Brown and his Kings had other plans. They came in roaring, and well, outplayed the defending champions. In the end, they secured a 118-99 win to force a Game 7.

The Warriors seemed like they lacked heart, right from the start. After the game, Steve Kerr addressed the same.

Jordan Poole has been a key piece for the Warriors for two seasons now. Last offseason, he secured a 4-year, $140 Million contract extension. This made people start expecting a lot more from him. With a chance to close out the game tonight, Poole did not show up to the party.

He went 2 of 11 from the field, shooting 1 of 2 from the deep. Initial lack of calls made Poole lose his cool, and he could never refocus. This play, as called by Mike Breen of ESPN, summarized Poole’s night.

Steve Kerr talked about it after the game. He said,

“Jordan[Poole] never really got going tonight, unfortunately. He got a little frustrated early… it was a poor night for all of us, including me. The Kings outplayed us, outcoached us, and deserved the win.”

While Steve Kerr was still a little critical of the young star, Stephen Curry showed full faith in him.

Just like a good leader, Stephen Curry hasn’t given up on his guys yet. Poole has struggled this series against the Kings, with Game 3 being the only exception. In Game 1, he went 1 of 7. In Game 2, he was 4 of 13. Game 4, he went 4 of 12. Tonight, he was 2 of 11. This is not what the team needs from it’s third scorer.

However, Steph has all the faith in the world in Poole. After the game tonight, Steph said,

“I have nothing but confidence in him to bring the right energy for the next game.”

All this veteran confidence in him should help Poole relieve some pressure and go into Game 7 with a better mindset.
