How was AEW able to sign Thunder Rosa from NWA?

According to Fightful Select, AEW brought out Rosa’s contract from NWA. There’s no word yet on specifics of the buyout or exactly how much time she had left in her deal. However, a deal was struck between the two that allowed Tony Khan to buy out the remainder of her contract and bring her to AEW.

Rosa reportedly requested her NWA release as far back as 2020, but that was rejected at the time.

The report also added that Tony Khan is being very careful to not get caught tampering with contracts. It also noted that Khan and NWA owner Billy Corgan have been working with each other directly.

“Tony Khan in particular is very careful about not contract tampering, and wanted to play by the book on the situation. We’ve noted in the past that Tony Khan and Billy Corgan often work together directly.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
