2 Years After Involvement In S*xting Scandal, Tim Paine Had Made A $250,000 Profit By Selling Home

Former Australian captain Tim Paine made a $250,000 profit by selling his old house in Tasmania. Paine sold his Sandy Bay property in 2018 before moving to a more spacious and luxurious space. Born and brought up in Tasmania, Paine now owns three houses in the state.

It is to be noted that the above mentioned real estate deal had happened two years after Paine’s involvement in an infamous s*xting scandal. Paine, who became Australia’s Test captain in the aftermath of Sandpaper gate in 2018, was found guilty of exchanging unsolicited sensual messages with a former Cricket Tasmania employee.

It was right before the commencement of Ashes 2021-22 that Paine’s s*xts were made public. Major consequences of the same included him stepping down from the leadership position before opting for an indefinite break from the sport to take care of his mental health.

Although Paine made a brief return to first-class cricket for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield last season, he never played for the national side again. It was only earlier this year that he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Tim Paine Had Made A $250,000 Profit By Selling Home

In 2016, Paine bought the Sandy Bay home for a price of $1.25 million. It was a four-bedroom apartment with two bathrooms and a separate dining room. There were three different living areas as well in the property. Additionally, there was enough place to park Paine’s three cars. Even though it was a 1920s-style property, it comprised modern amenities such as a large open-plan kitchen, entertainment deck, etc.

After the birth of his second child, Paine wanted to move to a bigger place. He expected to fetch $1.4 million for the place but his expectations were exceeded as he eventually got $1.5 million as part of a successful deal.

For the uninitiated, Paine’s new residential place is in South Hobart. The wicket-keeper explained his decision of selling the place by saying that he and his wife expect more kids in the future.

“We just went for something a bit bigger, now we’ve got a few kids — and might have more,” Paine had told the Sunday Tasmanian.

Paine’s new house has some glorious views of mountains and ocean. The manicured gardens help in creating privacy from surrounding neighbors. The exact details of this property are not known in the public forum, but it is said to be unequivocally bigger one than Paine’s previous home. There is also a swimming pool in the backyard.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Paine converted the garage into a home gym. He had to park his cars outside because of the same. Having said that, Paine had to reconsider his decision because a robber broke the car’s glass and stole some of Paine’s belongings.

What Really Happened During Tim Paine Sexting Scandal?

While the incident had happened on the eve of the first 2017-18 Test, it was brought in the public eye four years later. Former Australian captain Mark Taylor, a CA (Cricket Australia) board member in 2018, had revealed why appropriate action wasn’t taken in 2018 itself. The board members were not at all happy when they came to know about the same in 2021.

The s*xting controversy had put curbs around Paine’s career and he faced a lot of bash from the media all around the globe. That employee even asked CA for an apology and $40,000 to cover up as legal cost. Having met Paine, the-then Australian head coach coach Justin Langer had disclosed how heartbroken he was.

“When I saw him, he’s obviously shattered with what’s happened. He has been such an exemplary figure in Australian cricket for the last four years particularly. His life has changed,” Langer had said about Paine.

Despite the fact that Hobart Hurricanes had hinted at signing Paine for the Big Bash League that year, but it was not meant to be. He then made his comeback with Tasmania Cricket Team after his mental health break. Tasmania’s coach even tipped him to be a part of the coaching team in future.
