Lewis Hamilton’s $2.7 Million Prized Asset Creates New Lap Record at Ferrari’s Home

The brand-new Mercedes AMG ONE that comes with an F1 engine has recently created a new lap record at Scuderia Ferrari’s home. The hypercar that’s worth over $2.7 million, and Lewis Hamilton has one with him, broke all previous records to set a new lap time in Monza.

As per reports, the AMG ONE clocked in an impressive 1:43:902 lap time around the temple of speed. Given that this is a road car, the time it took to cover the track is staggering. Interestingly, the AMG ONE did the lap with street-legal tires.

If it was done with slicks, it is believed the German beast would have slashed a few more seconds from its time. Most importantly, it beat the previous record of this track by over 11 seconds. The AMG ONE beat the previous record held by Maro Engel when he was driving the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Furthermore, the lap time set by the Mercedes beast was 19 seconds slower than that set by Sergio Perez. The Mexican race driver recorded the fastest lap in Monza’s 2022 Italian Grand Prix with his mighty Red Bull RB-18.

Details about the Mercedes AMG ONE

This car was previously known as the Mercedes AMG Project One. But after its production was done, it was changed to Mercedes AMG ONE. The German automobile giants made only 275 units of this unique hypercar. The combined worth is expected to come to $742 million.

This German machine comes with a premium-class E PERFORMANCE plug-in hybrid. It boasts a 1.6-liter V6 turbo petrol engine and four electric motors for the turbocharger. The car pumps out 1063 horsepower, thanks to the crankshaft and front axle acting together.

It comes with a seven-speed manual transmission with a 4-disc carbon racing clutch. The Mercedes-produced car can go 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, 0-200km/h in 7 seconds, and 0-300 km/h in 15.6 seconds. The AMG ONE also boasts a top speed of 218 mph, identical to an F1 car.

Lewis Hamilton and his connection with AMG ONE

The seven-time world champion Hamilton unveiled this prized asset at the 2017 International Motor Show. At the event held in Germany, he was accompanied by the head of Mercedes Benz, Dieter Zetsche.

The plug-in hybrid car sparked enormous interest from fans and critics alike. One among them was the Mercedes F1 driver, even though he was connected with the hypercar’s development.

And in the end, Hamilton didn’t leave the chance to get his hands on one of them. He rather got two of these. One for himself, the other for his father, Anthony Hamilton, with a combined worth of a staggering $5.4 million.
