"It's there any way, you can be converted to Philadelphia 76ers fan" Eagles rookie Devonta Smith reveals that he is a Boston Celtics fan

Eagles’ fans erupted with joy when Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith fell to them with the 10th overall pick. But only 4 days in, the Philadelphia Eagles might have a controversy on their hand. Smith revealed his love for the Boston Celtics and it will definitely not go down well with the 76ers faithful

When 9 teams passed on Devonta Smith, the Eagles saw a steal on the table and traded up 2 spots to draft him with the 10th overall pick. The Eagles will hope that the Heisman winner will become their WR1 for the future after last year’s round 1 pick Jalen Reagor doesn’t seem to be the answer.

But a startling new discovery had Philadelphia sports fans trolling Smith for his favorite NBA team.

Devota Smith revealed that he is a Boston Celtics fan.

The star wide receiver out of Alabama made a stunning admission upon joining Philly: He’s a Boston Celtics fan. That, of course, is a no-no around those parts given the 76ers’ storied rivalry with the C’s.

Smith was asked this week on NBC Sports’ Takeoff podcast with John Clark whether he eventually could put his C’s fandom behind him and root for the Sixers. “You can for sure get me to the game, but convert me? I don’t know about that one,” Smith answered.

The jokes pured in from everywhere. But regardless of his NBA fandom, the Philadephia Eagles will have no problem as he will take the Field for them in 2021.

DeVonta Smith was the best player in collegiate football last year. He won the Heisman and became only the 2nd wideout ever to do so. Smith’s elite production was vital to the Alabama Crimson Tide winning the National Championship in 2021. And the Philadelphia Eagles will hope he torches NFL defences like he did college defences.

The Heisman Trophy winner is expected to contribute right away in Philadelphia’s WR-needy offense after catching 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide last season. DeVonta Smiths NFL debut will be highly awaited next season.
