'He's making a very serious accusation that untrue': Bellator MMA's President Scott Coker is Exploring Legal Actions Against Ben Askren

Bellator president Scott Coker is seemingly not amused with his promotion’s former Welterweight champion Ben Askren and may explore legal options against him.

Ben Askren, who is in contention to face Jake Paul in a boxing match, did not take Scott Coker’s inference about the match kindly and hence attacked him on Twitter.

Scott Coker in an interview with MMA junkie was asked about the possible outcome of Jake Paul Vs. Ben Askren, to which he said “I already know who’s gonna win that one,” Coker said. “Ben’s a wrestler. Let’s put it that way, right? So I think he gets knocked out in a boxing fight. But in an MMA fight, it’s a different story.”

These comments seemingly ired Askren, who took to Twitter to chide Scott Coker and questioned his handling of the brand.

In response to the Tweets, Coker on Wednesday told MMA fighting that, “He’s making a very serious accusation that’s untrue.” He also said, “I’m meeting my lawyers today to discuss our options.”

He continued, “He’s just mad because I said (Jake) would knock him out in a boxing match, which is true.”

About the sale of Bellator, Coker stated “This just came up a couple of days ago, because there were groups inquiring about (whether) Viacom (would) want to sell a piece of Bellator, and they said no,” Coker said.

“There’s probably been five, six offers for Bellator since I’ve been there – in the last few years – and Viacom turned them all down.”
