Bobby Lashley says ‘Now is a really good time’ to face Brock Lesnar

Bobby Lashley says ‘Now is a really good time’ to face Brock Lesnar. The two are rumoured to have a match against each other at SummerSlam.

Brock Lesnar is arguably the biggest star in the WWE right now. Not only is he a great professional wrestler but he is also a legitimate badass; as his exploits at the UFC prove. The only other wrestler in the company with similar credentials to the Beast is Bobby Lashley.

Lashley has a monstrous frame like Lesnar and has proved himself in the world of MMA. Although he never fought for the UFC, Lashley for several MMA promotions including Bellator, and amassed a record of 15 wins to 2 losses.

In fact, when he returned to the WWE in 2018, there were murmurs of a possible match between the two titans somewhere down the line. However, the stop start pushes Lashley received meant that his credibility fell apart.

In the last few months however, the WWE have wronged a lot of their rights with him and have booked him in a manner they should have done right from the start. His recent monstrous run has convinced Lashley that he is now ready to take on Lesnar.

“I haven’t talked with Vince, but I think at one point in time, there was some talk about maybe teasing it and seeing where it went,” Lashley said during his recent appearance on the Table Talk podcast. “But, at the time, he was knee-deep in a feud with Roman, and then Seth was coming behind him. They already had things lined up for him.

“I think if anytime, it is now. Now is a really good time. I think I’ve done all the paying dues stuff that I’ve done since I’ve been back. I think my character is starting to develop a little more into being who I am. I get to finally beat people up. I don’t have to lay down to people that are 100 pounds less than me that shouldn’t really even be in the room with me, let’s put it that way.”

Lashley was recently in the WWE title picture. Rumours of a possible Lashley vs Lesnar match have once again surfaced. The WWE see Lesnar as a top draw and could very well bring him back for SummerSlam. A feud between the two heavyweights with similar backgrounds could really ignite an interest among the viewers, especially the casuals; a demographic Vince McMahon seems to care a lot about.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
