Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis: 'KingRy' Claims Fight Against 'Tank' Was a Rescue Mission for Boxing's Legacy

Gervonta Davis is currently riding a high after beating Ryan Garcia. The boxing star recently participated in a cross-promotion match and came out victorious. It appears that his next move could be yet another crossover. This time, however, it could be in a professional wrestling set up in either WWE or AEW.

Both AEW and WWE have previously featured boxing talent on their show before. The legendary Mike Tyson has made an appearance on both the shows. WWE has also had Tyson Fury and celebrity boxer Logan Paul on the show from time to time. Could Gervonta Davis be next?

Gervonta Davis is open to working with Triple H in WWE and Tony Khan in AEW

Gervonta Davis was recently interviewed by Bally Sports. The boxing star was asked about a potential move to either WWE or AEW. Davis had a straightforward answer that would potentially excite both Triple H and Tony Khan.

“I would be down for it,” Davis said, keeping his doors open for yet another crossover showing.

During the same interview, he named WWE Hall of Famers Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels as his favorite wrestlers.

It will be interesting to see if he will manage to transition as successfully as Logan Paul and Tyson Fury have done before him.

While Mike Tyson was a major feature at WrestleMania 14, he never wrestled a match in WWE. Tyson’s hero Muhammad Ali has also had a WWE appearance in a non-wrestling capacity. However, despite never wrestling, the sport had a profound impact on his boxing career.

Taking inspiration from wrestling legend Gorgeous George, Ali displayed heel tendencies to rile fans in order for them to buy tickets just to see him lose.

However, Ali managed to win the crowd over by backing his thrash talking with his skills between the ropes.

Gervonta Davis beat Ryan Garcia in their mega match

The highly anticipated match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia took place on April 22nd in Las Vegas, inside the T-Mobile Arena. Following months of thrash talking, the two finally entered the squared circle and put on an excellent exhibition of a masterclass in boxing.

Garcia was much more aggressive from the get go. However, in doing so, he displayed several defensive liabilities. Davis took his time and eventually won the fight with a well-placed left-handed liver punch in the seventh round.

Garcia tried to get up but could not make it in time for the 10-count. This was the first ever loss in his career.

The 24-year-old was gracious in defeat and offered no excuse for coming up short. He also revealed that he had no desire to even the score and would instead focus on winning his first world championship.

Davis made his boxing debut at the age of 13. He has since fought in 29 matches and won all 29 of them. 27 of those wins have been via knockouts. He has held multiple world championships in three separate weight classes and is on his way to becoming a legend in the sport.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
