The NFL penalized two more Cowboys players for the Salvation Army kettle celebration. Both, running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott were fined $13,261 for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Several Cowboys players have received monetary fines from the league for using the Salvation Army kettle at AT&T Stadium as a touchdown celebration prop for the second week in a row. This time around, penalties were assessed against running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott for their antics during the fourth-quarter against Indianapolis last Sunday.

After scoring on a four-yard end-zone scurry, Elliott ran to the kettle while beckoning Prescott to follow. Prescott stood outside and turned a fictitious handle as Elliott jumped into the kettle and ran for cover. Then Elliott gave his signature “Feed Me” pantomime after rising like a jack-in-the-box.

The two were not flagged by officials as Prescott worked himself into an imaginary frenzy before Elliott appeared and made the “feed me” gesture.

Kettle Celebration was started by Ezekiel Elliott in 2017

Elliott famously started the Salvation Army kettle celebration trend in 2017 after jumping into it and gradually rising up after scoring against the Detroit Lions. Elliott told media after the 54-19 victory, “I just had to come up with something to try to top the guys from last week. I’m unsure if we did. The Whac-A-Mole can be challenging.”

The combined loss for the six players’ kettle celebrations is $53,616. However, as noted by the Cowboys and Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, his contributions to the Salvation Army go far beyond occasions for celebration.

Elliott visited a Salvation Army warehouse this week and gave a $50,000 cheque. He also urged supporters to donate $21 to match his jersey number.

The Cowboys can take comfort in the fact that they crushed the Indianapolis Colts by 54-19. Prescott threw for 170 yards on 20 of 30 attempts and scored three touchdowns. Elliott carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards and got a touchdown. The Cowboys offense dominated, especially on the ground, where they racked up 220 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries.
