Why Is Anthony Davis Not Playing Tonight vs the Wizards?

The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be on a comeback course since they beat the Brooklyn Nets on November 13. In the last 16 games they have played, Anthony Davis and Co. have won 10 games. They will host the Wizards tonight with an influential win over the Denver Nuggets behind them.

The Lakers’ reversal after a terrible start to the season is quite a sight for the Lakers fans. However, even as they have managed to win 10 of their last 16, they still stand 12th in the league. To become playoffs eligible, they have a long road ahead of them.

However, much of the fate of the franchise will be decided based on AD’s availability. And as it stands, unfortunately, he will miss at least a month of action.

Anthony Davis suffered an injury in his right foot

What exactly happened to Anthony Davis is still unclear. He left during Friday’s win over the Denver Nuggets mid-game. However, the latest reports suggest a troubling time ahead for the Lakers. Shams Charania revealed through his tweet that Anthony Davis will miss at least a month of action. His date of return will likely exceed this timeline.

With Davis out and without any return time-table, the Lakers are in for a turbulent ride. They are on a good rhythm and without Davis, who has been exceptional, things will be difficult. Luckily, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook have been reliable this season and should be able to pick the mantle.

It is highly likely that the Lakers will win over the Wizards in their next game. Washington is, after all, having a terrible season so far and lost last night to the Paul George-less Clippers. However, post that, the Lakers will hope for they can stay afloat until Davis, who was having an incredible season, returns.
