“Caleb Swanigan is clearly having some real life issues”: Damian Lillard reacts to former Blazers player facing jailtime over minor marijuana charges
Damian Lillard takes to Instagram to let everybody know that Caleb Swanigan isn’t in a good place at the moment, amidst minor drug charges.
Former Portland TrailBlazers draftee Caleb Swanigan was stopped at 2am on December 23rd, 2020 and while searching his car, police found an inordinate amount of marijuana weighing around 3.4 pounds and $3415 in cash inside of his vehicle. Just yesterday, Caleb pleaded guilty on having possession of said items, along with some other drug paraphernalia.
What has fans shocked is the fact that Caleb Swanigan was in the NBA merely a year ago and looked drastically different as well. While in the NBA, Swanigan hovered around the 260 pound range. However, in his most recent weigh in, the Purdue alum is currently at 400 pounds.
Damian Lillard, his former teammate on the Portland TrailBlazers took issue with an Instagram account named ‘CrossedSports’ for a strange caption that they put on a post relating to Caleb Swanigan.

A virtually unrecognizable picture of Caleb Swanigan was questionably blasted all over social media when news broke out about him pleading guilty to the charges that were pressed against him. Damian Lillard commented underneath an Instagram post regarding the situation:
“If you’re gonna post this shit with real concern then that’s cool. But don’t ask “how does one go from this to that”, he’s clearly having some real life issues. That’s how. You don’t know what it is he’s going through to cause such a drastic change.”
“You don’t know WHAT it is he’s going through to cause a drastic change. If you gone be supportive then do that but don’t ask no shit like that like it’s not possible when you naturally a big dude and go down a dark road.”

Despite the fact that Swanigan and Lillard shared the court for merely 13 games in the 2019-20 NBA regular season, it didn’t stop the All-NBA guard from standing up for his former teammate.
It’s unclear at the moment what caused Caleb Swanigan to undergo such a drastic transformation but many have claimed that the quarantine as a tough time for him and that he suffers from depression. Here’s hoping that the former Purdue star forward can get back on the road to recovery quick.
