NFL New Uniforms 2021 : Cincinnati Bengals reveal new uniforms after 17 years
The Cincinnati Bengals revealed their new modern and sleek uniforms ahead of the 2021 season. The Bengals released their new uniforms on Monday morning, completing a process the team has teased for months after wearing the same set since 2004.
The Bengals last made major uniform change back in 2004 after almost 2 decades. And their fresh threads were accompanied by an impressive run of performances. The franchise’s new digs were part of a successful era in Cincinnati that included three division titles and seven playoff appearances from 2005-15.

“Our fans have wanted new uniforms for many years, and today represents the start of an exciting new era in Bengals history,” Bengals director of strategy and engagement Elizabeth Blackburn said in a statement. “Our new uniforms are bold, sleek and iconic. We designed them to be recognizable and timeless, like the Bengals helmet.”

The Cincinnati Bengals revealed their new sleeker and simpler jerseys for the 2021 season.
The new uniforms follow a recent trend in design across the NFL, with many franchises forgoing busier looks for cleaner, simpler sets. The New jerseys will now have some previously prominent features like ditching the coloured shoulder yokes, the side panels and the outlined nameplates.
The new toned-down appearance will leave the teams trademark stripes as the feature that will catch the eyes. The Bengals also borrowed a famous line from Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders:

Originally, The Bengals showcased a uniform that was similar to Cincinnati Founder Paul Brown’s first team, the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals made a drastic uniform change in 1981, with the addition of stripes being the biggest addition. And while their original jerseys were relatively bland, the Bengals’ striped helmets distinguished themselves from other team helmets.

“My father said he wanted a helmet that would take just one look to recognize us from the top seat in the stadium,” said Bengals owner Mike Brown said. “I think our helmet has stood the test of time. It has established our identity, our trademark if you will, and that’s important to our fans.”
While the Cincinnati Bengals paid homage to their illustrious past, they look to be preparing for an optimistic future. They look to have a star at QB in Joe Burrow, and with the No.5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, another hit could propel the Bengals to a franchise turnaround. It will also be very interesting to see how draft day plays out for the Cincinnati Bengals.
