Back in 2018, the landscape of the UFC Lightweight division was vastly different. The top of the food chain was overseen by only three lightweights: Tony Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Conor McGregor.

Given the Irishman’s inactivity, the promotion stripped him of his 155lbs championship that he clinched in 2016 and scheduled a contest between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov for the championship at UFC 223.

During the UFC 223 fight week, Nurmagomedov had a run-in with Artem Lobov, the former friend of Conor McGregor. The altercation prompted a fierce response from the ‘Notorious’ one, who wound up flying out an army of his Irish friends to New York.

Following the weigh-ins, the athletes were seated on a bus to take them back to the fighter hotel. When Conor McGregor instantaneously showed up and proceeded to throw a dolly at the bus.

He wound up breaking the glass of a window and hurting multiple fighters, apart from his intended target, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Michael Chiesa and Conor McGregor settle their lawsuit!

It’s been four years since the infamous incident which saw Conor McGregor throw a dolly at the bus aiming for the head of former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The ‘Mac’ is still reeling from the repercussions of his actions.

Specifically, Michael Chiesa, who was cut from the forehead, as a piece of glass could be seen pierced into it.

In light of the matter, it was announced back then that the UFC Welterweight challenger intended to sue McGregor for the damage he caused to him. At long last, the pair settled their differences four years later.

A report from MMAFighting about the occurrence stated-

“Attorneys for McGregor and Chiesa on Friday filed a stipulation of discontinuance with prejudice, meaning they have agreed to not to proceed with the lawsuit – and it cannot be refiled later. A person with knowledge of the suit, who declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter, confirmed to MMA Fighting a settlement was reached; terms of the agreement were not disclosed.”

Michael Chiesa filed the suit in September of 2018 against McGregor, for a barrage of reasons. Chiesa even stated-

“I literally had a golden opportunity ripped out from me because of (McGregor)”

Chiesa’s response is with reference to the fact that the cut rendered him incapable of fighting that weekend. He was scheduled to face former UFC Lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis in a pivotal contest.

Conor McGregor’s latest legal trouble.

In hindsight, the 34-year-old would have loved to settle the dispute back then itself. Especially in the wake of a new lawsuit against him by former training partner and friend Artem Lobov.

Lobov has sued McGregor for a 5% stake of the sale proceeds he made from selling his Whiskey company for $600 Million in April 2021.

The ‘Notorious’ one, as things stand, will once again have a long-standing court situation. Not the ideal mindset to be in given that he has declared he will make his return to the octagon next year.
