Babar Azam was already facing a lot of criticism regarding his captaincy, and the results of the Pakistan cricket team, but he is now back in the news for the wrong reasons. A video of Babar has been released where he is allegedly se*ting with the girlfriend of another Pakistani cricketer.

It is not the first time that a leading cricketing captain has been caught in such a scandal. Ahead of Ashes 2021-22, Australian Test captain Tim Paine was also involved in a similar incident. Paine, subsequently, was removed from captaincy and hasn’t played an international match since then. He still has not played a single test for the Australian team since then.

Dr. Nimo Yadav tweeted the alleged video in the early hours of Monday, and it certainly got viral. However, Babar has received a lot of support from Pakistani where the fans said that it is just a strategy to defame their captain. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed yet.

It is worth a mention that Azam was involved in such an incident in the past as well. A girl named Hamiza Mukhtar had accused Babar of sexual abuse, harassment, blackmailing, etc. However, Mukhtar took away all the charges later on.
Considering doubts around the genuineness of the video as Azam can’t be heard saying anything, it is highly likely that the video will be thoroughly investigated as Babar is one of the biggest names in cricket at the moment, and it is a very serious allegation.
Meanwhile, Babar has been on the wrong end of severe disapproval as Pakistan failed to win even a single Test against Australia, England and New Zealand during the recently concluded home winter season. There are also reports that the 28-year old player will no longer be the all-format captain of the Pakistan team, and will be first stripped off Test captaincy.
