SMGs are some of the most reliable weaponry to use in close to medium-range gunfights. Season 5 has increased their potential threefold. That is why, we will look at the best SMG loadouts in Warzone 2 Season 5 in this piece.

Battle Rifles and SMGs are at the top of the food chain in terms of weapons in Warzone 2 Season 5. Assault Rifles work well and are good no matter the range, but they have taken a backseat. People use SMGs for close range, and Battle Rifles for medium to long ranges, leaving no room for Assault Rifle players.

That being said, having an SMG in your primary or secondary slot depending on your loadout is crucial. It can help you during the endzone in closer ranges. Plus their speed and power are unmatched even by the strongest of ARs. That is why, this guide will look at the best SMG loadouts in the game. Without further ado, let us get into it.

The Best SMG Loadouts to Use in Warzone 2 Season 5

SMGs are undoubtedly the best weapons to use in close-quarters gunfights in Warzone 2. However, there are a myriad of choices you have and each weapon is different than the other. That being said, we are highlighting the ones that the community prefers to use in the game.

These SMGs are the best ones and are designed for speed and damage. We will aim to negate their weaknesses and prioritize their strengths with these loadouts. In addition, we will also look at the perks and equipment you can use with it along with a Primary weapon, should you need one. Let us begin.

(Note: The list reflects the views of the writer and should not be taken as the final list) (Credits to WZRanked for stat numbers related to the pick rate of these respective weapons)

7. BAS-P

The BAS-P has been away from the spotlight since the inception of the game but it is an SMG that is better than people give it credit for. Even though you do not see enough content creators or professional players use it, it is a good weapon that can hold its own against the best there is.

The amount of buffs this weapon has received has made it a viable choice. The worst part about this weapon is the damage but the speed, fire rate, reload quickness, and magazine size more than make up for its weaknesses. Let us look at the build.

Attachments

  • Optic: Your Preference
  • Magazine: 50-Round Drum
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Flash Grip
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Barrel: 10.5″ Bruen Typhon

This loadout is a little bit of everything ranging from speed to damage range and bullet velocity. We start off with an Optic of your preference. It will help you with seeing your enemies clearly and decrease the visual recoil of the weapon. Most professional players go with the Cronen Mini Pro for this SMG.

Pair the Optic with a 50-Round Drum magazine which helps you take on multiple enemies at the same time. Due to the faster fire rate of the BAS-P, you will burn through ammunition quicker. That is why we recommend an extended magazine because it won’t affect its speed that much.

Follow that up with the Bruen Flash Grip. This attachment increases the sprint-to-fire speed and ADS speed of the weapon. This stat boost helps in close-range gunfights because you can be the first person to raise your gun up first and shoot.

The VLK LZR 7MW Laser further increases the ADS and sprint to fire speed along with aiming stability which can help when you are aiming at an enemy. The only con is that you do not get a visible laser sight, otherwise, it is a solid laser option.

Finish this loadout with the 10.5″ Bruen Typhon Barrel to get a healthy boost of bullet velocity, damage range, and hipfire accuracy. It also offers sound suppression so you will stay off the enemy’s radar.

6. FSS Hurricane

Moving right along to the FSS Hurricane which is rarely seen in professional or Ranked Play. It is a good SMG and can be deadly in the right hands. However, you have to build it up in a way that makes it lethal. For that, we are going to increase its mobility and stability as we do with other SMGs.

WhosImmortal, a Warzone 2 Content Creator, recently made a loadout for the FSS Hurricane which is the ideal one for this SMG. That loadout is what we will be discussing below. Let us go through the attachments.

Attachments

  • Ammunition: 5.7x28mm Overpressured +P
  • Rear Grip: XTEN Grip
  • Stock: Demo Quicksilver Stock
  • Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT-85

We start off with the 5.7x28mm Overpressured +P Ammunition which is going to make the enemy flinch a lot more when they are shooting back at you. This will help you gain an advantage in battle when the enemy misses those few crucial shots.

The XTEN Rear Grip is a staple attachment for SMGs due to its versatility. It increases the ADS and sprint-to-fire speed which is crucial for SMGs. These two stats make or break an SMG since they help a weapon thrive in close quarters.

For the stock, we will go with a Demo Quicksilver. This attachment has a variety of stat boosts that can help you in lots of ways. The attachment increases ADS, sprint, movement, and crouch movement speeds at the cost of recoil control and aiming stability. However, an increase in all of these speeds can be a huge boost to the CQC ability of the FSS Hurricane.

Follow that up with the FSS OLE-V Laser. It increases the ADS and sprint to fire speed further but also boosts the aiming stability of the weapon a little. Finish the loadout off with the Lockshot KT85 for horizontal and vertical recoil control so you can hit every shot on target.

5. PDSW 528

The PDSW 528 is a relatively newer SMG as compared to the other ones on this list. This weapon currently has a pick rate of 1.1% which is higher than most of the weapons in the game. That being said, due to the fast fire rate of the weapon we have to ensure that the bullets land properly.

That is why, the ideal scenario is to build this weapon for speed and recoil control. Let us look at the loadout, again by WhosImmortal.

  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT-85
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip
  • Comb: TV TACComb
  • Rail: G33 Light Rail

We start off with Lockshot KT-85 to improve horizontal and vertical recoil as we discussed in the FSS Hurricane section. This will help the PDSW stay on target. The VLK LZR 7MW will increase the weapon’s ADS speed, sprint to fire speed, and aiming stability thus making a versatile attachment that fulfills both of our requirements for this weapon.

For a Rear Grip, we go with a Bruen Q900 Grip. This attachment again, increases the ADS and sprint to fire speed thus making us more agile in closer ranges. Now, we attach a Comb. For this, we will use a TV TACComb. The TV TACComb offers the same stat boosts as the Bruen Q900 Grip.

The G33 Light Rail increases the movement speed further since it is crucial when facing enemies in closer ranges. This class loadout is built for speed and recoil control, you will notice how quicker you are at rotating and pulling your gun up when facing enemies.

4. Vaznev-9K

The Vaznev-9K was at the top of the food chain for quite a while in the game. However, it got taken over by the ISO 45 and the everpresent Lachmann Sub. It is still a viable weapon and one of the best SMGs in the game. With a pick rate of 1.2%, it is a preferred SMG for people used to its recoil pattern.

Because this weapon eats ammo faster than most other SMGs, we will build it up for speed, ammo management, and some stability. The recoil of this weapon is fairly easy to manage even without attachments making it the ideal SMG for beginners.

The loadout WhosImmortal made suits this weapon the best and utilizes its capabilities fairly well.

Attachments

  • Magazine: 45-Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: True-TAC Grip
  • Stock: Otrezat Stock
  • Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
  • Barrel: KAS-1 381mm

We start off with a 45-Round Extended Magazine for better ammo management and to ensure we can combat several enemies at the same time. We also equip a Rear Grip. The True-TAC Grip is the perfect attachment for this spot. It increases the ADS and sprint to fire speed which is crucial in an SMG.

The Otrezat Stock increases our strafing capability with the weapon by increasing the sprint speed and aim walking speed. This is crucial when taking gunfights. The difference is really noticeable. Follow that up with the FSS OLE-V Laser which boosts ADS and sprint to fire speed further, making us agile in closer ranges.

Finish off the loadout with the KAS-1 381mm. It increases the barrel’s length which allows for efficiency in medium-ranged gunfights. It improves handling and accuracy in slightly longer ranges, an important attachment if you consider this weapon as Sniper support.

3. Vel 46

Now, we move on to the better SMGs starting off with the Vel 46. The Vel 46 has not been at the pinnacle of the meta always but it has never been unusable. There are people who strive by this weapon and we agree with them. Its versatility is unmatched, it has lesser recoil and its fire rate is enough to take out the most heavily armored opponents.

We will build this weapon up for speed and ammo management due to its high fire rate. It acts as excellent Sniper support and can outgun most ARs in close ranges making it an excellent choice for Resurgence.

Attachments

  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT-85
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Stock: Demo RXT Stock
  • Magazine: 50-Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Schlager Soldier Grip

Start off the loadout with two well-known attachments, the Lockshot KT-85 muzzle for horizontal and vertical recoil control and the VLK LZR 7MW for stability and mobility. Follow that up with the Demo RXT Stock which increases the strafing speed of the weapon by boosting ADS speed, sprint speed, and crouch movement speed.

We will also equip a 50-Round Magazine which is going to help in clutch situations when you are being surrounded by enemies. Because of this weapon’s fire rate, you will run out of ammo too soon. The extended magazine helps in those scenarios. For the last attachment, we will use the Schlager Soldier Grip.

This attachment further increases the ADS and sprint-to-fire speed so that you can aim faster in CQC situations.

2. Lachmann Sub

The ever-present Lachmann Sub, also known as the MP5, is still one of the best close-range options you can utilize in Warzone 2. It has manageable recoil, a faster fire rate, and a speed that is enough to combat ARs without any attachments.

With a 10.9% pick rate in the game, it reigns supreme over most SMGs as the strongest and most versatile one to use. We will build this SMG for speed and stability as we did with other weapons on this list as well. Let us look at the loadout.

Attachments

  • Ammunition: 9mm Overpressured +P
  • Magazine: 50-Round Drum
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Rear Grip: Lachmann TCG-10
  • Barrel: L38 Falcon 226mm

The 9mm Overpressured +P works the same way as the 5.7x28mm Overpressured +P. It makes the target flinch when taking a shot at you. It costs you some recoil control but that is manageable. We equip a 50-Round Drum for better ammo management and combating multiple enemies at the same time. It might seem trivial, but it is a crucial attachment to rock on the Lachmann Sub.

The VLK LZR7MW for better stability and mobility as we discussed earlier. For the Rear Grip, we go with the Lachmann TCG-10. This Rear Grip is solely meant for recoil control that was taken away by equipping the Ammunition attachment.

Finish the loadout off with the L38 Falcon 226mm. This attachment is going to increase the ADS speed and overall movement speed with the weapon allowing us greater mobility. It is meant for aggressive CQC.

1. ISO 45

The ISO 45 is one of the best weapons in the game currently and rightly so. Ever since its introduction in the previous season, it has taken over the SMG class due to its stability and fire rate. With a current pick rate of 12.0%, it is the highest-picked SMG in Season 5.

Even though it took a nerf, it is still the best SMG in the game. It is versatile, agile and does decent damage even as an SMG, which is the reason why it is at the top spot on this list. Let us look at the loadout. Credits for this loadout go to WhosImmortal.

Attachments

  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT-85
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Stock: SK-3 Cheetah
  • Magazine: 45-Round Drum
  • Rear Grip: EXP Shear

For the muzzle, we recommend the Lockshot KT-85 to ensure that this weapon has zero recoil in close-range combat. With the horizontal and vertical recoil control this attachment offers, it is a must-have for any SMG. Follow that up with the good old VLK LZR 7MW laser for stability and mobility.

For the stock, we go with the SK-3 Cheetah for a variety of reasons. It increases most of the speed stats. It increases sprint speed, crouch movement speed, aim walking speed, and sprint to fire speed. This helps out a lot in close-range engagements and strafing.

The 45-Round Drum is present for better ammo management and finishing off enemies quickly so that you can get out before reinforcements arrive. For the last attachment, we go with the EXP Shear. It increases the weapon’s mobility by enhancing ADS and sprint-to-fire speed. That rounds out the ISO 45 loadout which is great as Sniper support.

Secondary

SMGs are usually not used as standalone weapons in Warzone 2.0 unless you are playing Resurgence Mode. However, we recommend that you either equip a Battle Rifle or a Sniper so that you can maximize effectiveness in both close and longer ranges. For this particular guide, we recommend going with the TAQ-V Battle Rifle for multiple reasons.

First, it is the weapon with the highest pick rate and second is due to its versatility. Let us look at the build.

TAQ-V Attachments

  • Ammunition: 7.62 High Velocity
  • Magazine: 50-Round Drum
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Barrel: 18″ Precision-6 Barrel
  • Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40

This loadout has everything ranging from recoil control to bullet velocity. It is the best loadout to use for the TAQ-V and you will dominate medium to long range gunfights with it. Equip an SMG from this list and you will be set for closer ranges as well.

If you are more of a Sniper, you can replace the TAQ-V with a Signal-50 or an MCPR-300 to make for a lethal secondary that dominates longer ranges.

Perks and Equipment

For the perk setup, we recommend running something that offers lots of survivability while promoting aggressive tendencies as well. Let us look at what would be the best match for the BR and SMGs mentioned above.

  • Base Perk 1: Double Time
  • Base Perk 2: Overkill
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: High Alert
  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical Equipment: Flashbang

Start off the perk setup with Double Time. It doubles your tactical sprint duration and allows for better crouch movement. We will need Overkill to run two primary weapons in the same loadout. Although, if you just want to use the SMGs, you can replace this with Tracker or Scavenger.

For the Bonus Perk, we recommend running Fast Hands for faster weapon switching speed, reload speed, and equipment using speed. It can be a clutch perk if you need to use your Flashbang during a gunfight or your Throwing Knife to finish an opponent.

For the Ultimate Perk, we recommend running High Alert since it will pulse your vision when an enemy has you in their sights. This is really important during the final moments of a match or in an intense battle against an opponent over range. It can help you avoid Sniper fire.

A Throwing Knife is the best lethal for a fast-paced SMG loadout since it can quickly let you down and finish off an enemy. It pairs really well with Resupply should you choose to equip that instead of Fast Hands.

A Flashbang can help you in most situations due to its versatility. It is one of the most reliable tactical grenades to pack. You can replace it with a Smoke Grenade if you like.

Why You Should Use These Loadouts

The SMG loadouts mentioned in this guide are optimized according to Warzone 2 Guru WhosImmortal. The attachments for these weapons allow the SMGs to shine in terms of speed and mobility, stats that naturally fit their synergy.

The perk setup is balanced, allowing for an aggressive or a more laid-back playing style depending on the individual. In addition, the TAQ-V can help in long-range situations if you want to take fights there. If you liked these loadouts, perhaps you’d like some of our other ones.
